With over 3,000 delegates representing over 50 schools nationwide, Boston University’s Model United Nations (BOSMUN) competition is a proving ground for the next generation of global leaders. Portsmouth Abbey sent six dedicated delegates to this year’s conference, each demonstrating exceptional skill, diplomacy, and strategic thinking in their respective committees.
Among the highlights was Jennifer Shon ’25 delivering a standout performance in the Sustainable Investment Forum Committee, where she competed against more than 200 delegates representing nations from around the world. Advocating on behalf of Qatar, Jennifer earned the prestigious “Best Delegate Award,” the highest individual honor in the competition. This achievement builds on her success from last year’s BOSMUN, where she was named “Outstanding Delegate”—a distinction that, while impressive, left some, including faculty sponsor Daniel Caplin ’10, feeling she had more to prove. “I felt she got short-changed,” he said, “I’m glad she could return to finish the job at this year’s BOSMUN.” This year, she did just that, delivering a commanding performance that secured her place at the top.
Congratulations to Jennifer and all of our Model UN delegates for their hard work and excellence on the (inter)national stage.
