Wrestlers Wrap up Another Championship Season
The Raven wrestlers wrapped up another EIL championship and sent six team members to the New England Preparatory School Wrestling Association Championships held February 14-15. More than 300 wrestlers from 55 schools competed in the event. EIL Wrestler of the Year, Dino De Marzio ’26 placed fifth overall at 120 lbs.; Colin Lally ’26 (132 lbs.), Cody Vetrano ’26 (138 lbs.), Gabe Devaney ’25 (175 lbs.) and Jason Xing ’26 (190 lbs.) made it just shy of the quarterfinal rounds. Fifth-Former Stefanie Jimenez Lopez placed fourth in the women’s division. De Marzio, Devaney and Jimenez Lopez also qualified for the National Prep Wrestling tournament.
Basketball
The boys JV basketball team had an active month with three wins against Lexington Christian Academy, Pingree School, and Landmark, respectively, and a loss against Pomfret School. On the varsity court, after starting the month with a loss, the Ravens have won four games in a row against Pingree, Worcester, Boston Trinity and Landmark. The team beat Pingree for the first time in nearly ten years.
The four-game winning streak for the JV girls ended on Feb. 19 with a two-point loss to Newton Country Day. Nevertheless, they dominated the competition this month, with the shortest lead being four points over Pomfret School on February 1. They have taken their game to new heights with wins over Beaver Country Day, Concord Academy and Rocky Hill Country Day.
The varsity girls continue to struggle with injuries but have evened the month with wins against Pomfret School, Concord Academy and Newton Country Day.
Hockey
The boys' varsity hockey team has held its own, winning against North Yarmouth Academy, Worcester Academy, and Kents Hill School so far this month. The Ravens also tied Dexter Southfield, the number one ranked team in New England. Currently second in the Holt Conference, the Ravens will host a quarterfinal in the conference playoffs on February 26.
The JV boys celebrated wins over Pomfret and Middletown this month. The JV girls have had some tough losses but continue to progress with teamwork and confidence on the ice. The varsity girls celebrated with wins over Hoosac School (5-0), Winsor School (11-2), and a tie against Kents Hill this month.
Squash
Boys varsity squash has earned wins over Concord Academy and St. Andrews School this month, with losses against Pomfret, Dexter Southfield and Moses Brown. Look for this team to continue to build momentum as the championships approach. The JV team continues to build with strong performances and progress despite losses. The girls varsity and JV squash teams continue to work hard, with strong performances from both returning and new players. The Ravens are looking forward to hosting the upcoming NEPSAC tournament on campus.
