The practically perfect musical, “Mary Poppins!” runs February 21-23, bringing an enchanting mixture of an irresistible story, unforgettable songs and breathtaking dance numbers to the Portsmouth Abbey School community and members of the general public. The Abbey Players are proud to present the stage version of one of the most popular Disney movies of all time. This production features a live orchestra, stunning sets and costumes, and a spectacular cast ready to share their talents through a heartwarming story for all ages. Journey back to England in 1910, where the jack-of-all-trades, Bert, begins to tell the tale of the troubled Banks family. Young Jane and Michael Banks have sent many a nanny packing before Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep. Using a combination of magic and common sense, she must teach the family members how to value each other again. Mary Poppins takes the children on many magical and memorable adventures, but Jane and Michael aren't the only ones she profoundly affects. Even grown-ups can learn a lesson or two from the nanny who advises that "Anything can happen if you let it." Public performances of “Mary Poppins” run Saturday, February 22, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, February 23, at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for seniors and children under 12 and can be purchased at the door. |
