Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" to hit POrtsmouth Abbey School stage

Portsmouth Abbey School is proud to present Shakespeare’s beloved comedy, "A Midsummer Night’s Dream". The show will be presented in-the-round, with a live band and a few exciting visual effects.

The story revolves around the upcoming wedding of Theseus and Hippolyta. Before the big day, however, Hermia and Lysander attempt to elope but are dogged by Demetrius, in love with Hermia, and Helena, in love with Demetrius. At the same time, Oberon and Titania, King and Queen of the fairies, are embroiled in their own fight. Puck, their jester, functions as a liaison between the two parties, as Oberon orders him to use a love potion to make Demetrius fall in love with Helena. Oberon’s plan backfires and it is Puck’s duty to right his wrong. This delightful and timeless comedy shows a topsy-turvy world of misunderstandings, magic, and the power of love to restore order.

"A Midsummer Night’s Dream" will be presented in the auditorium at Portsmouth Abbey School Saturday, November 16 at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, November 17 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students and seniors (children 12 and under are free) and can be purchased at the door.

Portsmouth Abbey School is located at 285 Cory’s Lane in Portsmouth. For additional information, please contact Director of Performing Arts Jay Bragan at 401-643-1218.
